Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 stick butter, softened
  • 1 cup pecans, halved
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water, brown sugar, and white sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a boil.
  3. Boil the mixture without stirring until it reaches the soft-ball stage (235–240°F / 113–116°C) on a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in butter, pecans, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, shaping into small rounds.
  6. Allow pralines to cool and set completely at room temperature before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the mixture reaches the soft-ball stage for the best texture.
