Description
Delicious cream-filled pastries topped with fresh strawberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cut into pieces)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream (chilled)
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan, combine water and butter over medium heat until the butter is melted.
- Add flour and salt, stirring vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Then, add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth.
- Spoon or pipe the dough onto the prepared baking sheet in squares, leaving space between each.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Once the pastry squares are cool, cut them in half horizontally.
- Spoon or pipe the whipped cream onto the bottom half of each pastry, then top with sliced strawberries.
- Place the top half of the pastry back on and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Ensure the heavy cream is well chilled for best whipping results.
- Any leftover whipped cream can be served on the side.
