Description

A delicious dish featuring savory meatballs served over creamy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Olive oil for frying
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs:
In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined. Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through (about 10-12 minutes). Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Mashed Potatoes:
Peel and chop the potatoes into even pieces. Boil in a pot of salted water until soft (approximately 15-20 minutes). Drain and return to the pot. Add butter and milk to the potatoes and mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Prepare the Sauce:
In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and whisk in the flour until the sauce thickens slightly. Return the meatballs to the skillet, coating them in the sauce.
  5. Assemble the Dish:
Plate the mashed potatoes and top with the savory meatballs. Drizzle with more sauce and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add diced onions to the meatball mixture.
  • Use a potato masher for smoother mashed potatoes, or a fork if you prefer them chunky.
  • Adjust the thickness of the sauce by adding more broth or flour as needed.
  • For a richer flavor, consider adding half-and-half instead of milk to the mashed potatoes.
