Description

This Rich Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake combines a moist chocolate cake base with creamy peanut butter filling and a luscious chocolate ganache.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup mini peanut butter cups, chopped
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake Base:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • Add milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
    • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    • Allow the cake to cool completely.
  2. Make the Peanut Butter Filling:
    • In a bowl, mix creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, and milk until the mixture is smooth and spreadable.
    • Once the cake has cooled, spread the peanut butter filling evenly over the top.
  3. Prepare the Chocolate Ganache:
    • Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
    • Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl.
    • Let it sit for about 5 minutes, then stir until smooth.
    • Pour the ganache over the peanut butter layer, letting it drip down the sides.
  4. Garnish and Serve:
    • Sprinkle chopped mini peanut butter cups and peanuts over the top.
    • Drizzle caramel sauce for extra flavor.
    • Let the cake set for about an hour before slicing.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • If the ganache becomes too thick to pour, gently reheat it over a double boiler.
  • Experiment with different nut butters for a unique twist.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
