Description

Delicious stuffed cabbage rolls filled with a savory mix of ground meat, rice, and spices, topped with a rich tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey (lean)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a large pot. Blanch about ten cabbage leaves for 2 minutes until pliable.
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Lay each cabbage leaf flat, place 2 tablespoons of filling at the base, fold in sides, and roll tightly.
  4. For the sauce, combine tomato sauce and brown sugar in a saucepan; simmer until blended.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour half the sauce over rolls in a baking dish; cover with foil and bake for one hour.
  6. Serve drizzled with remaining sauce and garnish with fresh parsley.
