Description

A delicious and easy recipe for Italian sausages cooked with bell peppers and onions.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausages (sweet or spicy)
  • 2 medium red bell peppers, sliced
  • 2 medium green bell peppers, sliced
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (for tang)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat with olive oil until shimmering.
  2. Add the Italian sausages to the skillet and brown on all sides for about 6 minutes.
  3. Remove the sausages temporarily and add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the pan. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the sausages to the skillet, slice them into bite-sized pieces, and season with salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes if desired.
  6. Cook everything together for another 5 minutes until heated through. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar before serving if desired.
