Description
A deliciously cheesy casserole featuring hash browns, cheddar cheese, and a creamy mixture baked to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (30 ounces) frozen hash browns, thawed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup crispy fried onions (optional, for topping)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, shredded cheddar cheese, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, melted butter, chopped onions, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden and the casserole is bubbling.
- Add Topping: If using crispy fried onions, sprinkle them over the top of the casserole and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Garnish: Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
- Cheese Variety: Feel free to use a mix of cheeses such as Monterey Jack or mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
- Soup Substitute: If you don’t have cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom or celery can be used as alternatives.
- Vegetarian Option: Replace the chicken soup with a vegetarian cream soup for a meatless version.
- Extra Crunch: Add crushed cornflakes or bread crumbs mixed with a little butter on top for an extra crunch.
