Description

A deliciously cheesy casserole featuring hash browns, cheddar cheese, and a creamy mixture baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (30 ounces) frozen hash browns, thawed
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions (optional, for topping)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, shredded cheddar cheese, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, melted butter, chopped onions, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  3. Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden and the casserole is bubbling.
  5. Add Topping: If using crispy fried onions, sprinkle them over the top of the casserole and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish: Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

  • Cheese Variety: Feel free to use a mix of cheeses such as Monterey Jack or mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
  • Soup Substitute: If you don’t have cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom or celery can be used as alternatives.
  • Vegetarian Option: Replace the chicken soup with a vegetarian cream soup for a meatless version.
  • Extra Crunch: Add crushed cornflakes or bread crumbs mixed with a little butter on top for an extra crunch.
