Description

A delicious and hearty casserole made with ground beef, cheese, and crispy bacon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Grease a baking dish lightly with oil.
  2. Cook the Bacon:

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels. Once cool, crumble into pieces.
  3. Cook the Beef:

    • In the same skillet, add olive oil if needed and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.
    • Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
  4. Combine Cheese Mixture:

    • In a bowl, mix together the sour cream, cream cheese, and heavy cream until smooth.
  5. Assemble the Casserole:

    • In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the beef mixture on the bottom.
    • Spread half of the cheese mixture over the beef.
    • Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the cheese mixture.
    • Repeat layers: remaining beef, cheese mixture, and shredded cheese.
  6. Top with Bacon:

    • Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top layer of cheese.
  7. Bake:

    • Place in the oven and bake for about 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding chopped bell peppers or mushrooms when cooking the beef.
  • Use a blend of cheeses for a richer flavor, such as cheddar and mozzarella.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easier blending with other dairy ingredients.
