Description

A delicious and hearty cheesy beef steak sandwich that will delight your taste buds!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef steak (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 4 hoagie rolls or French baguettes
  • 8 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cheese sauce (optional)
  • Jalapeños, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Thinly slice the onion. If using, heat the cheese sauce gently until warm. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cook the Onions: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Remove onions from the skillet and set aside.

  3. Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add vegetable oil and increase heat to high. Add thinly sliced beef, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned, about 5 minutes.

  4. Assemble the Sandwiches: Slice hoagie rolls and lay them open on a baking sheet. Evenly distribute the cooked beef onto each roll. Top with caramelized onions.

  5. Add Cheese: Place slices of cheddar cheese on top of the beef and onions. Optionally, add warmed cheese sauce over the top. Add jalapeños, if using.

  6. Melt the Cheese: Place the sandwiches in the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 5-7 minutes.

  7. Serve: Remove from oven, close the rolls, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Beef Choice: For tender meat, use ribeye or freeze the steak for 20 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
  • Additions: Sauté mushrooms or bell peppers if desired for extra flavor.
  • Bread: Toast the rolls lightly before adding the filling for extra crunch.
  • Spice Level: Adjust the amount of jalapeños according to your spice preference.
